I saw this ages ago on Monica Ewing's wonderful blog and I was convinced - convinced I tell you! - that Shabby Chick had covered it.
It seems I was wrong and I thought I should remedy that immediately. This is such a brilliant use of old, salvaged drawers, that I have an urge to go skip-diving immediately*.

Why am I such a sucker for cake stands? I cannot - in all honesty - conceive of a time when I would actually use one, but still they mesmerise me...
It must be the pretty patterns and the promise of cake baking (and eating) and the echo of wafer-thin sandwiches cut into tiny triangles... And did I mention the pretty?

This set of card (four designs, eight sheets per pack) would make pretty shabby chic greetings cards or scrapbook pages.
Or how about a homeware project? I can see them used to great effect as a backing for a small shelving unit.

One of my favourite presents this Christmas was a pair of deliciously soft cashmere wrist-warmers in duck egg blue (thanks Mum!).

Yes, I know it's the sixth of January today - what of it? There's still time to make some resolutions... I am planning to finish all of my current craft projects (ribbon cushion, anyone?) before starting anything new. Absolutely. For definite. How about you?
Also, if you've yet to embrace the make-to-and-mend shabby chic ethos, 2009 looks like a great year to do so. For starters, Kirstie Allsopp (of Location Location Location fame) has her own crafting series starting on Channel 4 early this year.
